
DRESS CODE
2025–2026 JAMES B. DUDLEY HIGH SCHOOL PANTHER DRESS CODE
✅ ACCEPTABLE
TOPS
Shirts must be worn at all times. Students will not wear jackets in place of having on a shirt. All tops must cover the entire midsection and extend to the waistband.
- Sleeveless shirts that are made that way (no cut-off sleeves)
- School athletic team uniform tops that are dress code compliant
- Long & short sleeve shirts
- Polo-style collar shirts
- T-shirts
BOTTOMS
Must be worn at the waist and secured. The entire hem of dresses, skirts & shorts must reach mid-thigh. If leggings/jeggings are worn, the shirt/skirt/dress/skort/shorts must be mid-thigh in length.
- Dress pants, jeans, and athletic-style warm-ups/sweatpants
- Dresses, skirts, and shorts
- Leggings, tights/pantyhose can only be worn under a skirt or dress
SHOES
- Shoes must be worn at all times
ACCESSORIES
- Appropriate undergarments are to be worn and should not be visible
- Hats/Jewelry or displayed accessories must use appropriate language and/or gestures
STUDENTS MAY NOT WEAR OR CARRY CLOTHING, JEWELRY, BOOK BAGS, OR OTHER PERSONAL ARTICLES THAT:
- depict profanity, vulgarity, obscenity, or violence
- promote the use or abuse of alcohol, tobacco, or illegal drugs
- threaten the health or safety of staff or students
- are reasonably likely to create a substantial disruption of the educational process or operations of the school
STUDENTS MUST:
- Wear clothing that covers their skin from chest to mid-thigh (see-through fabric is prohibited)
❌ UNACCEPTABLE
TOPS
Any article of clothing that can reasonably be deemed disruptive to student learning.
- Strapless dresses (A jacket may be worn over a strapless dress to be considered dress code compliant, but the jacket must be worn at all times.)
- Shirts with offensive slogans or pictures (drugs, alcohol, guns, gangs, profanity, etc.)
- Tank tops and spaghetti straps
- Shirts that expose cleavage and midsection
- Shirts that are “see-through”
- Backless shirts, halter tops, and cut-off sleeveless shirts
BOTTOMS
Sagging pants are not allowed. Undergarments may not be visible, and pants should sit on hips or waist.
- Pajama pants
- Sweatpants with writing across the backside
- Tights/pantyhose that are not with appropriate length dress/skirt/shorts
- Manufactured holes/shredded areas that expose underwear
- Slits/holes must not extend higher than mid-thigh (ex. ripped jeans)
SHOES
- House / Bedroom slippers
ACCESSORIES
- Bonnets/Head Scarfs
- Ski masks/Gaiters (Cannot roll up)
- Hoods
- Hats
- Durags
- Bandanas
- Wave Caps
